SIDE EFFECTS OF EXENATIDE
Exenatide side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting,
dizziness, headache, feeling jittery, and acid stomach.
Nausea is most common when starting with Byetta but
decreases over time in most patients. Byetta may reduce your
craving, the amount of food you eat, and your weight.
Exenatide should not be used for treatment in patients with
type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic
ketoacidosis. Exenatide is not a substitute for insulin in
patient’s requiring-insulin.
Byeta must be used with
caution in patients receiving oral medications that require
rapid gastrointestinal absorption. Patients is also advised
that treatment with Exenatide may result in a reduction of
food intake, and/or body weight and that there is no need to
modify the dosing regimen due to such effects. Use of Byetta
is not suggested in patients with end-stage renal disease or
stern renal impairment, or in patients with severe
gastrointestinal disease. Byetta causes some other side
effects, which in case should be properly diagnosed by your
physician.
DOSAGE OF EXENATIDE
Exenatide comes in a prefilled injection pen, which uses a
very small needle. Since the pen device contains
pre-measured doses, you do not need to adjust the dose in
that pen. Exenatide should be taken twice daily — before
your morning and evening meals. After each injection, you
should eat your meal anytime during the following sixty
minutes. Your doctor will starts with a dose of 5 mcg twice
a day for at least 30 days, but may decide to increase your
dose to 10 mcg in the future
